It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating our 5th year today as Decadance Co, and we have all of you to thank. Yes, every single one of you. Your interest in our art and your support in our purpose continues to feed our resilience and artistry. So thank you.
KNOTTED is our 4th Intergenerational Production and we are so proud of the illustrious journey our performers have chosen to take with us. We are so privileged to be able to witness their growth in artistry, confidence and performance over these past few years. As our relationships continue to strengthen, our conversations around difficult themes become easier to approach. The sharing of deeper personal stories enables us to paint our shows in vibrant, vivid colours.

SYNOPSIS
KNOTTED delves deep into the beauty, complexities, and enduring struggles inherent in the institution of marriage, examining how its impact resonates across generations. Through the movement lens and language of the artist, witness the joyous moments of connection and intimacy , juxtaposed with the poignant challenges and sacrifices that define the journey of marriage.
As with our previous editions of intergenerational works, the short narratives are informed by personal stories from the 3 generations of performers, to showcase the ever-evolving beliefs, cultures and perspectives.
The stage will hold young performers from our decakids programme, pre-professional performers from our decastudios platform, and senior performers from our decasilver programme. This production experience will enable performers to come together and build cross generational friendships through their love for dance and performance.

EDWIN WEE PRODUCER
Edwin graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2008 with a Diploma in Dance. Upon graduation, he was invited to present his graduating choreography, The Shaman's Cat, at the da:ns Festival 2008 at Esplanade. He was part of Generations Spotlight: Moscow (2008) directed by Ivan Heng, where he performed for the President of Russia, Dmitriy Medvedev, and Singapore's Senior Minister, Goh Chok Tong. He later performed for His Excellency President of Singapore SR Nathan at the Singapore Design Awards 2008.
He joined Arts Fission in 2008 ad has been actively choreographing and performing since. He was appointed Rehearsal Director in 2011 and Artistic Director for the company’s annual young people environmental dance-theatre productions since 2012. He has directed, curated, designed and choreographed more than 20 staged and site specific original productions.
With Arts Fission, he was involved in all productions and community projects. Some notable performances include, and not limited to, The Rite of Spring: A People’s Stravinsky (2013), Temple Reimagined (2013): a dance film, Future Feed (2014): a collaboration with Irene K Compagnie and presented in Belgium, In the Name of Red (2015): a site specific performance commissioned by National Gallery Singapore, Fire Monkey: a site specific performance under the arts festival of Mapping Melbourne (2016), and again at Northcote Townhall, Melbourne (2018).
RACHEL LUM CO-CHOREOGRAPHER
Rachel Lum graduated with a Diploma in Dance from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in year 2011. Upon graduation, she joined Frontier Danceland as an apprentice. Rachel then joined Re:Dance Theatre (RDT) as a founding member where she actively performed in all of her core and external productions such as M1 Contact Dance Festival, M1 Singapore Fringe Festival, Singapore Night Festival and NUS Arts Festival. Rachel was also the training mistress for Re:Dance Theatre 2. In 2017, she joined The Arts Fission Company as a movement artist. In addition, she has created numerous dance works and one of them, No Corners, was invited to perform at Lift Off Dance Festival in Bracknell, United Kingdom. As a freelance artist, she has performed in M1 Contact Dance Festival, CDE Springboard Dance Festival Macau and DANCESTAGES Shanghai.
JOANNE SEOW CO-CHOREOGRAPHER
Joanne embarked on her dance journey with the Royal Academy of Dance ballet program in Malaysia at the age of five. She later pursued her professional training at LASALLE College of the Arts, earning a diploma in dance. In 2021, she graduated with Distinction.
During her time at LASALLE, Joanne diversified her skills by studying genres including jazz and street dance. Her training also involved collaborations with numerous local and international artists such as Rachel Lopez de la Nieta (UK), Leah Morrison (UK), Ery Mefri (Indonesia), Eisa Jocson (Philippines), Susan Sentler (UK/Singapore), and Jenny Neo (Singapore). These experiences extended beyond dance into disciplines like fine arts, fashion, film, and animation, enriching her artistic perspective.
Currently, Joanne is a full-time dance artist with Decadance Co.jump to the top^
ALBERTA WILEO LIGHTING DESIGNER
Alberta wileo is a freelance lighting designer and theatre artist who is currently the winner of Strait Times Life Theatre Award 2022.
His lighting design work began in 2002 for Lasalle dance graduation project.
He has designed for many professional performing companies such as Arts Fission, Action Theatre, Singapore Repertory Theatre, Singapore Lyric Opera, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Dance Theatre, HUM Theatre, Apsaras Arts, Frontier Danceland, Theatre works, Singapore Philharmonics Orchestra, New Opera Singapore and many more.
He has worked with Afgan who is a famous pop star from Indonesia and also other famous singers in the region like Sheila Majid and Krisdayanti.
He has been painting the stage in Singapore and around the world (Malaysia - Penang - KL - Genting, Japan - Tokyo, USA - New york-maryland-seattle-washington, India - Calcutta, Indonesia - Jakarta & Mojokerto, France - Avignon, etc) for the past 18 years.
He would like to express his gratitude to DECA DANCECO for the trust in painting NUNO with light.

KELLY OH CI EN DANCER
Kelly is an apprentice with Decadance co, she has been dancing for 8 years graduating from NAFA in 2024. She has been dancing with Deca since 2019.
AIREEN PHANG DANCER
Aireen is a botanist with a passion for dance, having started at the age of three. She explores various dance genres, including jazz and hip-hop, and trains at multiple studios, such as Converge. Since January 2021, she has been dancing with DECA.
KATHLEEN WUNG DANCER
Kathleen is a dedicated doctor who has been dancing for nine years. She currently trains and teaches at Converge Studios and has been taking classes at Deca since 2020, continually enhancing her dance skills.
NG PEI YAO DANCER
Pei Yao is an engineer in the construction sector. He began dancing under the guidance of Benedict Soh in 2008. During his time in university, he joined NUS Dance Synergy and worked with Albert Tiong and Yarra Ileto. He started dancing at Decastudios in 2023, and has performed with Decadance Co. in Creased (2023) and The 11th Hour (2024). Pei Yao is also a member of The Human Expression Second Company in 2024.
